UAE, LIBERIA STRENGTHEN BILATERAL TIES WITH FOCUS ON SECURITY AND DEVELOPMENT

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Liberia have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening diplomatic, economic, and security cooperation following high-level discussions between their foreign ministers. The meeting, which took place recently, underscored both nations’ shared vision for peace, stability, and sustainable growth.

UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, hosted Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, for talks aimed at expanding collaboration across multiple sectors. The discussions focused on strengthening security cooperation, boosting trade and investment, and exploring opportunities in renewable energy, infrastructure, and education.

A key highlight of the engagement was the UAE’s endorsement of Liberia’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the 2026–2027 term. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed commended Liberia’s efforts in promoting national and regional stability, emphasizing the UAE’s willingness to support its diplomatic aspirations on the global stage.

Both officials reiterated their commitment to fostering economic partnerships, particularly in areas of technology, capacity-building, and innovation. Foreign Minister Nyanti expressed appreciation for the UAE’s continued support and acknowledged the country’s leadership in driving economic diversification and international collaboration. She affirmed Liberia’s readiness to engage in meaningful cooperation aligned with its development priorities.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides highlighting the importance of sustained dialogue and high-level engagement to enhance bilateral relations. Minister Nyanti was accompanied by key officials, including National Security Advisor Cllr. Samuel Kofi Woods and Presidential Advisor on National Defense (Rtd) Gen. Daniel Ziankahn, reflecting Liberia’s strategic approach to fostering global partnerships for national development.
