Two-time GRAMMY Award-winning artist Tems is harnessing her global influence to drive change, launching the Leading Vibe Initiative (LVI) with support from Hennessy in a groundbreaking effort to elevate African women in music.

Unveiled in Lagos on August 8th and 9th, the two-day event marked more than just a launch; it signaled the start of a continental movement aimed at empowering female artists, producers, songwriters, and industry professionals. Through curated workshops, networking sessions, and high-level panel discussions led by African and global music heavyweights, the LVI seeks to dismantle barriers and create pathways for women to thrive in every corner of the music industry.

“This is about supporting talented young women in music as they find their voices, embrace their power, and shape the future of the industry across Africa and beyond,” said Tems, born Temilade Openiyi. Known for her genre-defying sound and bold artistic choices, Tems has become a symbol of possibility for a new generation. Her 2024 debut album, Born in the Wild, cemented her place among the most influential artists of her era.

For Hennessy, partnering with Tems is a natural evolution of its decades-long support for music and cultural expression. “Her vision, talent, and purpose align deeply with Hennessy’s legacy of championing those who push boundaries and redefine the world around them,” said Vincent Montalescot, Hennessy Global Chief Marketing Officer. “We’re honored to support the Leading Vibe Initiative and to continue empowering African communities and cultures.”

Hennessy’s work in Africa has already included projects like In the Paint, which celebrated local artistry. Now, with the Leading Vibe Initiative, the brand is taking a more targeted approach, centering women’s contributions to the industry and fostering a cross-continental network of creatives.

From Lagos to the world, the LVI will roll out across Africa and beyond, building momentum for a future where women not only participate in the music industry but shape its direction and define its sound.
