U.S. tech giant Oracle has opened a cutting-edge Research and Development (R&D) centre in Casablanca, Morocco. This strategic investment will not only power Oracle’s global innovation pipeline but also catapult Morocco into the ranks of the world’s digital powerhouses.

The seven-story innovation hub, inaugurated by Morocco’s Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, alongside Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni and Oracle’s Executive Vice President Craig Stephen, represents a cornerstone in the “Morocco Digital 2030” strategy an ambitious national blueprint aimed at accelerating youth empowerment, employment, and technological transformation.

More than just a regional office, the centre is already home to 300 Moroccan engineers, developers, and tech specialists, with plans to grow that number to 1,000 by 2027. However, Oracle’s commitment extends beyond employment: the company has pledged to train over 20,000 Moroccan students in essential digital skills, including AI, cybersecurity, cloud computing, big data, and graph processing, thereby creating a robust talent pipeline for the nation and the continent.

“Establishing the Oracle R&D centre in Morocco reinforces that Morocco is a key player in digital innovation,” said Seghrouchni. “It can compete with global powers thanks to its local talents, skilled youth, and a rapidly maturing ecosystem.”

Strategically positioned to serve clients across Africa, the Middle East, and beyond, the centre will play a crucial role in developing next-generation AI and cloud technologies. It is poised to place Moroccan expertise at the heart of Oracle’s global tech ecosystem, turning Casablanca into a vital node on the world’s digital map.

“A new Oracle R&D centre in Morocco reflects our commitment to innovation and inclusion, leveraging the country’s growing tech talent and strategic location to build cutting-edge solutions for Africa, the Middle East, and beyond," said Oracle’s Craig Stephen.

By investing in talent and technology, Oracle’s move underscores Morocco’s growing clout as a launchpad for African-led innovation and a serious contender in the global race for digital excellence.
