In a bold move to expand its Middle East footprint, Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s leading carrier, has announced the launch of a new passenger service to Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, starting June 1, 2025.

The new route, operating four times a week, is poised to open fresh corridors of opportunity between East Africa and one of the UAE’s most vibrant cultural and economic centers.

Sharjah, known for its rich heritage and growing commercial significance, will now be just a short flight away for Ethiopian travelers, thanks to this strategic addition.

“We are excited to expand our passenger flight network in the UAE with the addition of Sharjah, a key economic hub in the UAE,” said Mesfin Tasew, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines. “With enhanced travel options, our customers can now explore UAE's rich cultural heritage and dynamic business landscape.”

This move not only enhances Ethiopian Airlines’ robust network but also complements its already established cargo operations in Sharjah. The airline currently operates over 100 weekly passenger and cargo flights to more than 17 destinations in the Middle East.

Having served the region since 1979, when it launched its first flight to Dubai, Ethiopian Airlines continues to strengthen its legacy in the Gulf, offering travelers greater access, efficiency, and choice.

With the addition of Sharjah, the airline is reaffirming its role as a bridge between Africa and the world connecting people, cultures, and commerce with unmatched reach and reliability.
