Kicking off the three-day ministerial conference yesterday, Temesgen called for stronger collaboration among African nations to harness the transformative power of knowledge and innovation. The summit, held from April 28 to 30, 2025, gathers education, ICT, and labor ministers from across the continent, alongside global partners and private sector stakeholders.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Ethiopia is committed to the vision through investments in school infrastructure, digital networks, and skills-based innovation.

Temesgen urged African governments, industries, civil society, and global partners to unite efforts in tackling educational and technological disparities, stressing that meaningful progress requires collective action.

Education Minister Prof. Berhanu Nega echoed the sentiment, highlighting the urgent need to equip Africa’s youth to navigate an increasingly complex global landscape. “This is a critical moment not just for Africa, but for the world. Education is the game changer that can reshape all sectors,” he said.

He added that the summit presents an opportunity to bridge gaps in education and technology through shared insights and collaborative strategies. The conference will feature discussions on pressing issues, including digital transformation, vocational training, and partnerships with private investors in education.

Organized by Ethiopia’s Ministries of Education, Innovation and Technology, and Labor and Skills in partnership with African Brains the summit is expected to generate actionable strategies for accelerating Africa’s development through education and innovation.
