President William Ruto has intensified his development tour of Nairobi, focusing on key projects aimed at improving education, infrastructure, and job creation.

As part of his agenda, the Head of State is set to launch and inspect various initiatives in Mathare and Ruaraka constituencies, including the construction of schools, a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) center, and an affordable housing project.

During his visit to Mathare, Ruto will launch the construction of an 800-bed dormitory at St. Teresa’s Secondary School, break ground for 12 new classrooms at Mabatini Primary School, and assess the progress of classroom construction at Mathare Mixed Secondary School.

These projects align with his administration’s push to improve education facilities and create a conducive learning environment for students in informal settlements.

The President will also oversee the implementation of a last-mile electricity program, which aims to enhance access to power for households and businesses in the area. In Ruaraka, he will inspect the construction of the modern Gateway Market, designed to boost economic opportunities for traders by providing them with better working conditions.

Ruto began his Nairobi tour on Monday with stops in Kamukunji and Makadara constituencies, where he launched the Nairobi River Regeneration Project.

The initiative seeks to restore the polluted river by constructing a 60-kilometer sewer line and preventing solid waste disposal into the waterway. He highlighted that the project would create employment for 30,000 young people while also making way for 50,000 units of social housing.

“I will be back here on January 15, 2027, to officially launch the regeneration project after its completion. In 24 months, you will see a huge difference in this Nairobi River. The country will not change if we do not make the right decisions,” Ruto stated.

Additionally, the President commissioned Kamukunji Technical and Vocational College, pledging Ksh50 million to expand the institution and equip more youth with job-ready skills. He also visited the Shauri Moyo affordable housing project, where the government plans to construct 4,600 houses, with a broader target of delivering 100,000 units in Nairobi over the next three years.

Ruto’s Nairobi tour underscores his administration’s focus on education, urban renewal, and economic empowerment, particularly in informal settlements. The projects are expected to uplift thousands of residents by providing better housing, education, and employment opportunities.
