In a major nod to its expanding influence and strategic leadership in intra-African trade, Ecobank has been named Best Bank in Africa 2025 by Global Finance magazine at its prestigious World’s Best Banks Awards.

This year’s awards recognize more than just size or profit; they honour institutions reshaping financial services in complex markets. For Ecobank, the accolade affirms its role as a driving force in facilitating seamless trade across Africa through innovation and integration.

The Group’s subsidiaries, Ecobank Gambia and Ecobank Togo, were also individually awarded Best Bank 2025 in their respective countries, underscoring the pan-African lender’s deep local relevance across its 35-country network.

Jeremy Awori, CEO of Ecobank Group, highlighted the recognition as validation of the Group’s strategic focus on intra-African trade:

“Driving intra-African trade is an important focus of our Growth, Transformation and Returns strategy, and we are continuously leveraging technology and partnerships to further enhance our continental digital payments platform and to position Ecobank as Africa’s trade bank of choice.”

He added that the win is also a result of the bank’s consistent commitment to customer-centricity and robust financial services:

“Our expertise and integrated coverage, which is networked across our 35-country African footprint, enable us to structure complex local and cross-border transactions.”

Global Finance’s judging panel considered a wide range of criteria, including asset growth, profitability, innovation, and customer service. Their selection process combined expert analysis with input from corporate executives, credit analysts, and banking consultants.

In a statement distributed by APO Group on behalf of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, the award organisers praised Ecobank for “delivering strong performance while navigating complex market conditions and positioning for sustainable success.”

Award recipients will be honoured at the Global Finance Awards Ceremony on 18 October 2025, at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, coinciding with the IMF/World Bank Annual Meetings.
