Nigeria’s energy deficit, which leaves more than 80 million citizens without reliable electricity, could unlock a $10–20 billion investment opportunity if harnessed through renewable and off-grid solutions, according to Mr. Ronald Adams, Chairman of All On and Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo).

Speaking at the 2025 International Business Conference & Expo of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Adams said that beyond being a challenge, Nigeria’s energy gap represents one of Africa’s most significant untapped markets.

“The consequences of the deficit are far-reaching: stifled productivity, limited access to healthcare and education, and weakened economic potential. Yet with the right policies and bold investments, this challenge can be turned into a multi-billion-dollar opportunity,” he told business leaders.

Adams noted that off-grid energy solutions such as solar mini-grids, solar home systems, and clean cooking technologies offer scalable pathways to expand access. He cited All On’s track record since its establishment by Shell in 2016, including over 50 direct investments, more than $40 million committed, and clean energy delivered to over 1.2 million Nigerians in 190 underserved communities.

He further stressed the need for collaboration across sectors, urging both local and international investors to explore linkages between energy, agriculture, digital technology, manufacturing, infrastructure, and financial services.

Adams also praised government initiatives such as Investopedia, a new digital platform showcasing investment opportunities across Nigeria’s 36 states, describing it as a step toward attracting global capital.

“We invite investors to seize the moment. Together, we can unlock the full potential of Nigeria’s renewable energy market and build an inclusive, sustainable, and resilient future,” he said.
