Air Algérie has announced a sweeping international expansion plan aimed at strengthening ties with Algerians abroad while positioning the national carrier as a key player in global aviation.
Speaking at a press conference, CEO Hamza Benhamouda unveiled a strategy that includes launching new international routes, acquiring additional aircraft, and introducing generous ticket discounts, particularly around culturally significant periods such as Ramadan and Eid.
As part of the plan, Air Algérie has already launched a new direct route between Algiers and Abuja, Nigeria. Flights to Amsterdam are also set to begin soon, expanding the airline’s presence in both Africa and Europe. These routes are part of a larger effort to boost Algeria’s international connectivity and open new gateways for travel and trade.
The airline is also in the process of acquiring new aircraft to modernize its fleet and increase capacity. Talks are underway with major international carriers to establish strategic partnerships, which could further enhance the airline’s global reach and operational efficiency.
One of the most widely welcomed aspects of the initiative is the introduction of discounted fares for Algerians abroad. The airline will offer up to 50% off tickets during Ramadan and up to 60% off during Eid, making travel home more accessible during key holidays.
With this bold expansion, Air Algérie aims not only to compete on the international stage but to serve as a bridge between Algeria and its global community, ensuring that distance never means disconnection.
