In a bold move to future-proof its healthcare sector, Tunisia has secured $125.16 million in fresh financing from the World Bank, marking a major step toward digital transformation and emergency preparedness.

The funding package, which includes a $17.16 million grant from the Pandemic Prevention Fund, is designed to overhaul Tunisia’s health infrastructure by modernising primary care services, enhancing emergency response capabilities, and accelerating the digitalisation of public health governance.

More than just a cash injection, this investment represents a structural shift. With lessons still fresh from the global pandemic, the initiative aims to ensure that Tunisia is not only prepared for future health crises but also able to deliver faster, more transparent, and equitable care to its population.

Key to this transformation is the introduction of digital governance tools and systems that will improve how health resources are tracked, allocated, and evaluated. This focus on smart systems reflects a broader international push to harness technology in building efficient, inclusive, and resilient healthcare models.

The investment also aligns with the World Bank’s ongoing efforts in Tunisia, aimed at supporting economic resilience and expanding access to quality public services, especially in underserved communities.
