Nigerian music sensation Tems has once again made history, securing her second Grammy Award at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards held on February 2, 2025, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. 

The singer-songwriter won Best African Music Performance for her hit single Love Me JeJe, a reimagined version of Seyi Sodimu’s 1997 classic.

With this win, Tems solidifies her position as one of Africa’s most influential contemporary artists, blending Afrobeats and R&B with her signature soulful touch. 

The category was fiercely competitive, featuring top African acts such as Yemi Alade (Tomorrow), Asake and Wizkid (MMS), Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay (Sensational), and Burna Boy (Higher). However, Tems’ artistry and fresh take on a nostalgic classic ultimately earned her the coveted award.

Since breaking into the global music scene, Tems has continued to push boundaries. This latest win follows her 2023 Grammy for Best Melodic Rap Performance, which she won for her contribution to Future and Drake’s Wait For U. With two Grammys to her name, she joins the ranks of African artists making a lasting impact on the global stage.
