At the dynamic intersection of agriculture and technology, Nasir Yammama, Founder & CEO of Verdant Agri-Tech redefining how smallholder farmers across Africa access insights, resources, and markets. Building on roots in rural farming communities and sharpened at Middlesex University, Nasir devised Verdant to tackle systemic inefficiencies in food production through low-cost, scalable tech solutions.

From an inspired idea conceived during the 2014 British Council Enterprise Challenge to mentorship by Sir Richard Branson, he transformed Verdant into a powerful digital platform. Verdant today reaches tens of thousands of farmers, offering market intelligence, weather forecasts, agronomic guidance, and access to finance, even on low-end mobile phones.

Under Nasir’s leadership, Verdant has forged impactful partnerships with Oxfam, GIZ, and state governments, delivering improved yields, reduced costs, and market inclusion to marginalized farming communities. His groundbreaking work earned him recognition on the Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 Rising Stars list and the Queen’s Young Leaders Award in 2017.
