In a significant step towards advancing national development priorities, Mauritania has secured $1.9 million in financing through three new agreements signed with the African Development Bank (AfDB).
The agreements were formalized during the AfDB’s Annual General Meetings in Abidjan, with Mauritania’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Sid’Ahmed Ould Bouh, and AfDB’s Regional Director for North Africa, Mohamed El Azizi, leading the signing ceremony.
Rather than mere financial aid, the funding represents a strategic push to enhance Mauritania’s sustainability agenda. It is earmarked for transformative projects in sustainable agriculture, water security, environmental protection, and institutional capacity building.
According to a joint statement from both parties, the goal is to deepen strategic cooperation while accelerating Mauritania’s path to inclusive and resilient development.
This move reflects Mauritania’s broader commitment to harnessing international partnerships for long-term national growth and sustainable resource management.
