Enugu State in Nigeria is fast emerging as a prime destination for international investment, with Denmark becoming the latest European nation to express keen interest in forging economic partnerships with the state.

During a high-level meeting at the Enugu State Government House, a delegation of Danish government officials and business representatives, led by the Consul General of the Royal Danish Embassy in Nigeria, Jette Djerrrum, engaged Governor Peter Mbah in discussions on trade and investment opportunities.

The visit underscored Denmark’s commitment to deepening economic cooperation in key sectors, leveraging Enugu’s improving business climate.

Djerrrum, who also serves as the Head of Trade at the Danish Embassy, highlighted the alignment between Denmark’s investment philosophy and the policies of the Mbah administration, particularly in areas of transparency, accountability, and inclusivity.

She referenced the governor’s remarks at the 34th anniversary of German reunification in Lagos last year, noting that his vision for Enugu’s economic transformation had caught the attention of international investors.

Governor Mbah, in his response, emphasized his administration’s resolve to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive. He reiterated his ambitious plan to grow Enugu’s economy to $30 billion within six years and assured the Danish delegation of his government’s commitment to de-risking investments and providing incentives to attract foreign capital.

The visit signals a potential boost in economic collaboration between Denmark and Enugu, with discussions expected to pave the way for concrete business ventures in the near future.
