The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is set to unveil a newly designed trophy for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), symbolising a bold step forward in honouring the women’s game.

The striking new trophy will be revealed on Wednesday, 2 July, just three days before the tournament kicks off in Morocco. The unveiling, to be held in the host nation in partnership with CAF’s official sponsors, is part of a broader effort to elevate the status and visibility of women’s football across the continent.

This move reflects CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe’s strategic vision to expand investment in women’s sports, foster greater inclusion, and give the women’s tournament a renewed sense of identity and prestige.

The digital reveal of the trophy will go live on CAF’s official platforms on Wednesday afternoon, with an exclusive “Trophy Event” scheduled for the evening. The event will convene high-level sponsors, officials, and media partners to celebrate the new era of WAFCON.

While full details about the design remain under wraps, CAF promises the new silverware will embody the spirit, resilience, and excellence of African women footballers.

The 2024 WAFCON tournament will officially begin on Saturday, 5 July, with an exciting Group A clash between Morocco and Zambia at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat. But long before the first whistle, the spotlight will shine on the newest prize in African sport, a trophy not just for champions, but for change.
